About Buffonia

Buffonia’s work is a story of creative evolution and finding inspiration in unexpected places. Growing up with a creative mother, she first picked up her mom’s manual film camera in high school. She learned the foundations of photography in the darkroom, mastering the patient art of capturing light and shadow. Her passion led her to college, where she studied everything from architecture and experimental photography to digital techniques, eventually falling in love with portraiture—the art of finding a subject’s true personality.

After college, Buffonia decided not to turn photography into a career and actually put her camera down for a long time. She got married, bought a house in Vermont, and began exploring different creative outlets, eventually teaching herself the art of sublimation and crafting with a Cricut machine.

The real turning point came when cannabis became legal in Vermont and her husband, Dave, started growing it. Dave remembered how much she loved to take photos and encouraged her to pick up her camera again. What started as a makeshift studio in her kitchen quickly grew into a full studio in their spare bedroom. Buffonia treats each plant like a portrait subject, documenting its entire lifecycle from seedling to veg, flower, and harvest.

Today, Buffonia has merged her two creative worlds. By combining her portrait background into botanical photography with her sublimation skills, she transforms her images into lasting, physical art—including custom aluminum signs, earrings, and bracelets. Her work invites you to slow down and appreciate the incredible, intricate details of nature. Her work proves that with the right light, even the smallest seedling can tell a massive story.
